Arsenal head into their third Champions League tie of the season eager to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend. Despite the slip, the Gunners remain third in the Premier League, and Mikel Arteta will be keen to see his side regain momentum against Shakhtar. In Europe, the Gunners have made a solid start, securing four points from their opening two group games, with a goalless draw at Atalanta and a 2-0 win over PSG. They will look to improve their goal difference in hope of bettering their chances at a top 8 finish and automatic entry into the knockout phase. These two clubs have met four times before, with each side winning twice. Their last encounters, in the 2010/11 Champions League group stage, saw both teams win at home.
Shakhtar, meanwhile, have struggled thus far in their Champions League campaign. After a 3-0 loss to Atalanta and a goalless draw with Bologna, the Miners sit 27th out of 36 teams in the new league phase. Domestically, they are performing better, holding fourth place in the Ukrainian Premier League, six points behind leaders Dynamo Kyiv. Since the sides last met, Shakhtar have moved away from expensive imports, focusing more on domestic talent. Injury-wise, Arsenal remain without Martin Ødegaard while Ben White and Bukayo Saka are questionable ahead of this weekend's PL clash with Liverpool. Shakhtar are in better shape but will miss Taras Stepanenko and Danylo Sikan.
Wash away the bitter taste from Saturday by cheering on the Red and White to turn the page and deliver a solid performance. See you at Dillon's!
